What you can do to help
One very good way to help us is to become a member and
receive our newsletter whilst supporting our work, please see the
Membership page for more information.
We are always looking for volunteers or helpers.
Currently the area most in need of support is fundraising. The task
involves activities from paperwork to active fundraising e.g.
running a car boot stall so if you feel you can help us please write
in to the address on our contact page.
We also maintain a network of trained animal collection volunteers
across Essex and if you feel that you would be able to help us we
would again be glad to hear from you. You will need to be able
bodied, have transport and preferably a mobile telephone upon which
you can be easily reached and an ability to respond quickly once
called.
Animal collection volunteers may be sent to urban or rural
locations, to catch and transport wildlife back to the main
hospital. Consequently they may have to ‘get dirty’ in order to
catch animals such as foxes or swans. We will provide training and
equipment to those we feel suited to this role.
We also need regular reliable volunteers
who can
give a regular session each week at the hospital. The work is dirty
and hard and is mainly cleaning and feeding the animals. It is a
vital function and one of the most important parts of the "hands on
work" with the animals
You can also help by donating food or equipment.
Some of the most common items we are most in
need of are:
-
Old towels
-
BROADSHEET newspaper
-
Items we can sell at car boot or jumble sales
-
Medical equipment
-
Food; because our animals eat specific types of diet, tailored to
match their natural diet as far as possible, we obtain most food
fresh. However we do have a need for canned or dry cat or dog food which we
will be very happy to accept.
Please telephone the hospital if you have any of these items for us
on 01375 893893.
