How to contact us and what to do in an emergency

  • We try to have full 24 hour cover. Please bear in mind that the Hospital and Rescue Service is completely staffed by volunteers and that they may be dealing with another emergency or with cases in the hospital when you call so sometimes you might get through to an answer machine.
  • Please listen carefully to the answering machine and If your call is about a sick or injured animal please phone the mobile number given.
  • For routine matters or enquiries that do not involve a sick, injured or baby animal or bird please phone back or you can leave a message on the answering machine and we will respond as soon as possible

  •             Any sick or injured animal is an emergency. For them every minute matters.

  • If you find a small animal or bird that is injured, pick it up, put it in a box or pet carrier and keep it calm & quiet and contact us for advice.
  • If it is a large animal like a Fox or Badger or Deer then do NOT attempt to handle it without the specialist equipment needed. Just ring us straight away and we will advise you what to do until we can send help for it
  • Please Ring BEFORE turning up at the hospital with an animal needing help just in case we have been called away to deal with an emergency

Please DO NOT use the MOBILE number for non-Urgent calls.

Please PHONE rather than email for any urgent enquiry or matter as the internet connection at the hospital has problems and frequently we cannot pick up our emails for several days

We deal with ALL injured, orphaned or sick wildlife, including foxes, badgers, hedgehogs, squirrels, deer, swans, ducks, geese and any other birds, frogs, toads, lizards, snakes.  In fact anything that lives wild in the British countryside or our towns.  We cover most of Essex, East and North London and North Kent from our hospital which is based in Orsett, Essex (just 5 minutes from Lakeside Shopping Centre).


We do not normally deal with domestic or farm animals but will offer help and advice where we are able to
